⚓ Boarding the “Baengmagang-ho” Cruise Ship
We boarded the Baengmagang-ho, a vintage-style cruise boat that carries around 50 passengers.
It felt like stepping into a piece of Korean history, floating gently down the river once ruled by the Baekje Kingdom.
While waiting to depart, we noticed schools of fish near the dock —
the sign identified them as Nunbulgae (Hemiculter eigenmanni), with small red eyes glinting in the sunlight.
We tossed some corn snacks into the water, and the fish swarmed excitedly!
🎶 The Melody of Baengma River
At 2:45 p.m., our cruise departed.
Most passengers enjoyed the open deck, feeling the cool autumn breeze.
Inside, life jackets were neatly arranged under each seat, and the atmosphere was calm and peaceful.
The captain shared fascinating stories about Baengma River, Goran Temple, and Nakhwaam Cliff,
his warm, local accent adding charm to the narration.
When he finished, the song “Baengma River” started playing through the speakers —
a nostalgic melody that perfectly matched the tranquil scenery.
Even now, I can still hear that song echoing in my mind.
🏯 Visiting Goransa Temple and Nakhwaam Cliff
Around 3:00 p.m., we arrived at Goransa Pier.

The walk to Goransa took about 10 minutes, along a quiet forest path overlooking the river.
The temple was partially under renovation, but we could still enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
🔔 The Bell of Goransa & Sacred Spring Water
The first thing we saw at Goransa Temple was the temple bell (Yeongjong),
which locals say is rung to comfort the spirits of the “Three Thousand Court Ladies”
who leapt into the Baengma River after the fall of the Baekje Kingdom.
After a respectful bow, we followed the path to the Goransa Spring,
where visitors can drink the clear water believed to bring peace and health.
It tasted clean and refreshing — though next time, I’d bring my own cup or bottle for hygiene.
🌸 Nakhwaam Cliff Viewpoint
A short 7-minute walk from Goransa leads to Nakhwaam Cliff,
the tragic yet beautiful site of the Three Thousand Court Ladies’ legend.
At the top stands Baekhwa Pavilion, overlooking the shimmering Baengma River below.
Despite its sad history, the view was breathtaking —
a perfect blend of nature, history, and serenity.
Many visitors were taking photos with the river as a backdrop,
and as I stood there, the song “Baengma River” returned to my mind once more.
